In an envisage fear of failure in the forthcoming 2019 general elections, members of the All Progressive Congress (APC) across the ten wards in Esit Eket local government Area have renounced their political covenant with the broom party by defecting from the APC to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) pledging their loyalty and support to the PDP.
Receiving the APC defectors into the PDP, the member representing Esit Eket / Ibeno State constituency in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Usoro Akpanusoh assured them of fair treatment stating that the Udom Emmanuel PDP led-administration has proven to the world the level of PDP's seriousness to return power to the people.
Akpanusoh, who was accompanied by the PDP chapter chairman of Esit Eket, Elder Eddy Etangkanga, the executive chairman of Esit Eket, Hon. Iniobong Robson who was represented by the Vice chairman, Mr. Samuel Itama urged them to remain fervent in their determination to join hands in building a greater future for a peaceful and safer Akwa Ibom State.
The lawmaker maintained that peace and unity remains pivotal principles through which development can always strive.
" for the PDP government to have sustained on the pace of industrial development and job creation witnessed under the administration of Mr. Udom Emmanuel as governor of Akwa Ibom State, there is absolute need to advocate for a stronger unity bond" Akpanusoh said.
The defected members numbering over five hundred asserted that the broom party with its irredeemable scars has no electoral value and support base across the LGA to drive the party to electoral victory at the poll.
Speaking, Mr. Abraham Ben, who until his defection was the APC vice chairman of ward six regretted their earlier decision to have joined the APC.
He said that it will be highest political error for anyone to dare contemplate of casting his or her vote for any APC candidate in the forthcoming general elections.
Mr. Abraham pointed that they cannot continue to support a party with no tangible evidence of democratic dividends to better the lives of the electorates who voted them to power. He added that their decision to accept to embrace the PDP is spurred by the unprecedented developmental strides of Governor Udom Emmanuel.
"Since the inception of APC from the central, we have experienced unusual hardship, incessant killings, bloodshed, and our peace brutally shattered; our votes no longer count while those who claim to be our leaders across boards has failed in their various capacity to provide us the desired representation" he added.
He express gratitude to the lawmaker and the PDP leadership for welcoming him and other members of his former party into the PDP. Mr. Ben further reiterated their commitment to jointly galvanize support for all PDP candidates to emerge victorious in the 2019 general elections while calling on all eligible voters not to mortgage their civil right.
In the entourage of the pragmatic lawmaker were his amiable wife Mrs. Ini Akpanusoh, Hon Elder Eddy Etangkanga, Mr. Samuel Itama, VC Esit Eket, leader of Esit Eket legislative council, Hon. Daniel Akpe, snr. DG of KINIABASI campaign organization, Prince Enobong Asubop, Rt. Hon. Anyanga Edet (double chair), Obongawan Grace Ekpo, councilors, former council chairmen, wards and chapter executives of PDP, women, youths among others.
