Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Charles Udoh KSJ, has said, with the 21-storey smart building on ground, coupled with the infrastructural development in the state, the relocation of EXXON Mobil to Akwa Ibom State is on sight.

The Information Boss who has been on a sustained media campaign on  the Akwa Ibom project across different independent and privately-owned Radio stations, was early today appearing Live on Inspiration Radio 105.9 where he expressed with optimism that EXXON MOBIL and other Internal Oil Companies, IOCs will soon be re-located to Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital as Governor Udom Emmanuel has put in place most of what the IOCs have been yearning for.
"With the conducive environment provided by government, the various investment opportunities put in place and the massive industrialization of the state, then the re-location of EXXON Mobil and other International Oil companies to Akwa Ibom will not be negotiable. For years the IOCs have been complaining of lack of a conducive and suitable office accommodation for them in Uyo. Now, with the 21 storey smart building, EXXON Mobil will have no excuse or any other reason not to re-locate to Uyo", Charles Udoh said.
Speaking on the recently issued circular on "Arrest of pupils/students if found loitering during school hours", the Commissioner for Information said, it was very apt to exert control on culprits who are out to flout government's free and compulsory policy, which allows all Akwa Ibom children and indeed all children residents in Akwa Ibom State to have their free basic education, from the Primary to the senior secondary education level free.

On the scorecard of Governor Udom Emmanuel during his first term, Udoh reiterated that, the Governor has performed creditably well, not only delivering on his Five-point Agenda but receiving accolades and commendations for his impactful and people-oriented governance across the globe, one of which was the Integrity and National Service Award presented to the Governor, right at the Aso Rock Villa by the Presidency.
He stressed that Governor Udom Emmanuel is poised to make Akwa Ibom State a model in development and industrialization for Nigeria added that the completion agenda of the Governor is designed to consolidate on the Five point Agenda of the first tenure and listed them to include wealth creation, job creation, poverty alleviation, infrastructural consolidation and expansion as well as Economic and Political inclusion.

Udoh said Governor Udom Emmanuel's plans for his second term in office  is hinged on the Completion Agenda and enumerated front burner sectors in the blue print to include: Aviation development, Rural and Riverine/Coastal areas development; Security, Small and Medium scale enterprises and Human capital development.
He said the cardinal point in investing in human capital development was to ensure that, Akwa Ibom sons and daughters have the necessary professional qualifications and technological capacity to man or work in the numerous companies and industries now operating in the state.

Stressing that, the diversification of the state's economy is to make the state more economically vibrant and investment-oriented, Udoh said, all industries in the State are running smoothly and disclosed that, the Electric Metering Solutions company which is daily producing and distributing meters for use in homes across the state and for purchase by PHEDC, has recently sent some of its staff to South Africa for training to boost their productivity when they returned.

Maintaining that, all these wouldn't have been achieved if the state was not safe for investors, the Information Boss said, Akwa Ibom has been reported as being the safest in Nigeria by the Nigeria Police, Security Agencies and operatives, and urged all to maintain this conducive atmosphere for more investments to come into the state, emphasizing that, Governor Udom Emmanuel is poised to leave Akwa Ibom by 2023 as a completely industrialized State and not a construction site.

1. I am delighted to join the Labour family today to mark the 2019 May Day celebrations jointly organized by Nigerian Labour Congress, Trade Union Congress and United Labour Congress, Akwa Ibom State Councils.

2. Today, I stand in total humility and in appreciation to Almighty God and the good people of Akwa Ibom State, for their support for my re-election. I thank the Organized Labour for standing firm, rock-solid and resolute in their support for the continuation of the good works we have started for the people of our dear State.

3. Not only did you proudly endorse my candidature, you went out to vote massively and ensured that you defended your votes. You refused to give in to blackmail, to intimidation, to falsehood and the organized attempts to tear the chords of our relationship for political gains.

4. The Organized Labour has been very supportive of my Administration, and for this, I remain deeply indebted and grateful. The maintenance of industrial peace in Akwa Ibom State has helped in the realization of a stable economic growth in the State and an atmosphere of shared commitment to peace, prosperity and development of our dear State.

5.I made a pledge to you in 2015 when I assumed the saddle of leadership of this State that as a proud son of dedicated school teachers, I will be a Labour-friendly Governor, and so far, I believe I have lived up to the expectations. You have been good partners and I look forward to the deepening of this harmonious relationship with you as we get set for our Second Term.

6. This Year’s Workers’ Day in Akwa Ibom State is particularly significant in that the three major organized Labour entities namely: NLC, TUC and ULC are holding a joint celebration for the first time. This symbolizes unity amongst the workers and we should all be very proud of this huge achievement.

7. Let me use this opportunity to congratulate the new State Chairman of NLC, Comrade Elder Sunny James and the entire new EXCO on their election. I look forward to a continuous good working relationship with you while I also thank most sincerely the immediate past NLC EXCO for the great works they did for the Organized Labour in the State and the cooperation they extended to my Administration. You are all, indeed, great patriots.

8. About four years ago when I assumed office as the Governor of this State, the economic frontiers were hazy and mired in uncertainties. The nation was going though severe economic challenges and the ability of the newly sworn governors to fulfil critical obligations such as payment of salaries became a huge nightmare. Several state governments owed salaries to their workers and pensions and gratuities were affected.
To the glory of the ONLY GOD we serve and worship, and through prudent management of the lean resources available to us, we were able to not only pay our salaries regularly, we went ahead to pay pensions and gratuities, an act we are still executing. You will recall that one of the first tasks I performed shortly after being sworn in was to clear a 10 year back-log of pensions and gratuities and I still recall the happiness and excitement you all felt when that intervention was done. The letters of appreciation you wrote to me are still on my desk as I speak.

9. It is remarkable to note that the theme for this year’s Labour Day is Another Hundred Years of Struggle for Jobs, Dignity and Social Justice in Nigeria. I can say here without the slightest feeling of immodesty that under my Administration, we have taken steps to create jobs through our industrialization efforts, bring dignity to our workers through regular payment of salaries and other entitlements and try to have a society where peace, security and social justice form the building blocks of our daily interactions. It appears the organizers of this year’s event had us in mind when they picked the theme because what the Organized Labour seek to achieve this year, we are already in the vanguard of the push to achieve them!

10. As you celebrate this year’s Workers’ Day, I urge you to continue to support our policy drive toward sustainable development. I enjoin the workers not to be willing tools in the hands of some mischief -makers whose stock-in trade is to disseminate falsehood and propaganda, all aimed at de-marketing our State and our achievements.

11. Finally, I want to assure you all that Akwa Ibom State Government will implement the new Minimum Wage Bill which was recently signed into Law by President Muhammadu Buhari, (GCFR) after necessary documentations have been effected.
We remain passionately committed the welfare of our workers to the full extent of the resources available. I promise to always keep a listening ear to your issues and concerns and together, the peace we have enjoyed all-round will continue to flourish and abound in our State. Akwa Ibom is rising and together with our Organized Labour, it is forward ever, backward never!

12. Thank you and Happy Celebrations! God bless us all!

It’s A Lie, Boko Haram Terrorists Don’t Earn More Than Nigerian Soldiers – Nigerian Army

Authorities of the Nigerian Army have debunked the claim making the rounds in some media indicating that Boko Haram terrorists are better paid than soldiers of the Nigerian Military hence they are better motivated in their bloody attacks.

Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Col Sagir Musa in a statement, described the claim as a lie made by an irresponsible individual who may have links with the group.

He said, “The attention of the Nigerian Army has been drawn to a publication on Sahara Reporters and other social media platforms, to a false claim credited to one Doctor Sidi Ali Mohammed, a member of the Presidential Committee on the North East Initiative.

“In it, he alleged that the criminal terrorist group members earn as much as $3,000 daily, as against the Nigerian soldier who is paid N1,000 only.

“This is not true, pure lie and highly irresponsible comment coming from a supposedly knowledgeable person of his calibre.

“It is also criminal and preposterous to compare the gallant soldiers of our Armed Forces with the rag tag terrorists’ criminal gang.

“Indeed there is no such basis at all between the outlawed criminal terrorist who commits crime against humanity and our highly patriotic, courageous and brave soldiers whose sacrifice cannot be quantified.

“Over time, we have been alerting the world that the menace of Boko Haram terrorism is being aided and abetted by sympathizers’ such as Doctor Sidi Ali Mohammed.

“He must have been associated with the terrorists’ group beyond what he may want the public to know for having the knowledge of how much a terrorist earns per day to commit atrocities against fellow Nigerians and other innocent people including women and children.

“His statement could be part of the deliberate attempt to demoralise the patriotic soldiers serving their fatherland so that the terrorists will take advantage of it.

“It is also a way of swaying the gullible youths to believe the lies of Boko Haram terrorists as being peddled by him.

“Therefore, we are calling on all Nigerians to discountenance the statement credited to Doctor Sidi Ali Mohammed; while we take necessary steps to formally report him to the appropriate authorities to further substantiate these unfounded allegations.

“We would like to assure the public that the Nigerian Army would remain resolute and focused in the fight against terrorism and insurgency in our great nation and no amount of distraction or terrorists’ propaganda will dissuade it.”

APC Suspends Segun Oni Over Anti Party Activities

Ado Ekiti-The All Progressives Congress(APC) in Ekiti State has suspended indefinitely, former governor Segun Oni from the party over alleged anti party activities.

The party, in a letter dated 1st May, 2019 and addressed to Oni, said it took the action over failure of the party chieftain to appear before the ward executive to clear the allegations.

The letter was signed by the chairman and secretary of Ifaki ward II, Shina Akinloye and Ogunyemi Taiwo , respectively and 24 other executive members in the ward.

The APC executive in Ido /Osi local government through its Assistant Financial Secretary and Assistant Organising Secretary, Messrs A. Suleiman and Olanrewaju Olamope, signed respectively.

Apart from being a former governor, Oni also served as the Deputy National Chairman(South) of the party under the tenure of Chief John Oyegun.

The letter titled:

“We the executive members of the APC in Ifaki Ward II, hereby request your presence at the Ilero town hall, Ilogbe , Ifaki Ekiti to clear air about the allegations by members of the APC in your ward.
” Kindly indicate by informing the APC chairman the convenient time and date to appear before members within the next seven days of the reception of this letter”.
The letter of invitation was received on Oni’s behalf by one Segun Adetunji on 25th April, 2019.

Recalled that Oni had gone to court after the May 26, 2018 APC governorship primary to challenge Governor Kayode Fayemi’s eligibility to participate in the election.

Oni had said that going by the constitution of the party, Fayemi , being a Minister in the cabinet of President Muhammadu Buhari ought to resign 30 days to the primary.

Fayemi resigned in June, 2018 after the primary had been held.

He later won the July 14 governorship election, by defeating the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP), Prof Kolapo Olusola.

But the supreme court in its judgement dismissed Oni’s suit for lack of merit, saying Fayemi didn’t breach the law by resigning after the primary.

APC disciplinary c’ttee recommends Okorocha’s sack

Though, Fayemi in his reaction to the court verdict spread olive branch to Oni, with a promise to work with him to move the party forward.

But some party members were said to have insisted Oni needed to be punished for disrespecting the party , by declining the Senatorial ticket and went to court to upturn Fayemi’s victory.
