JUST IN: AKPABIO MEETS FIRST DISAPPOINTMENT

THE belief by Chief Godswill Akpabio that he was going to arrive Uyo today as the Senate President of Nigeria backfired as himself and the National leadership of the APC failed in their bid to impeach Senate President Bukola Saraki despite parading a dangerous squad of security operatives led by the DSS.

He was however lucky to claim his first casualty the DG of the DSS who fell under the sledge hammer of the Acting President Yomi Osinbajo and was sacked after the international community raised an eye brow questioning why the Federal Government should send mask DSS officials to harass the Senate leadership.

It was gathered that the former Governor of Akwa Ibom State had told the National Chairman of the APC Adams Oshiomhole that it is the power game and that Saraki must go either by force or more force.

Sources who claim to know told THE INK reporter in Abuja that parts of the discussion Akpabio had with the Presidency and the National leadership of the APC was that Saraki must go.

Tinubu, it was learnt had warned expressly that Saraki must be removed with caution and is said to have added that if the Senators fail to impeach Saraki today, that it may be difficult for them to sack the Kwara born political heavyweight.

The failure of Akpabio and his team to sack Saraki today has however in the interim demarket the strategic value the APC placed on the Akwa Ibom Senator.

The National leadership of the PDP while contributing to the Senate debacle said, Nigerians can no longer be taken for a ride. They acknowledged receipt of Akpabio's letter of resignation from the office of the Senate minority leader and added that the former Akwa Ibom Governor is yet to tender a letter indicating his exit from the party as it stands.
