Eket Local Government Chairman Empowers Urua Nka Market Women

The Chairman of Eket Local Government Area, Hon Frank Archibong has empowered women selling in Urua Nka, a popular market in Eket L.G.A as part of his support to the market women.

The petty trading support packages which included, bags of rice, bags of garri,Beans, salts, detergent, tissue papers, packet of indomie and other items were presented to many traders.

Another set of beneficiaries were given financial assistance to boost their trading businesses. Other traders were given wrappers and Financial assistance also.

Presenting the items to the women, the Chairman who was represented by his wife, Mrs. Bright Archibong said the gesture was aimed at empowering and encouraging them in their businesses in line with the daakada spirit of the current administration of Governor Udom Emmanue and encourage the spirit of entrepreneurship amongst the people.

She said the Petty Trading Support (PTS) would help in boosting their businesses and reduce the burden of going to source for funds to boost their businesses. She also encouraged the Women to go out enmasse and participate in the ongoing voters registration.

Mrs. Archibong advised women to be prayerful,pay attention to their husbands and children and take care of their homes.She also added that the market women will be empowered at intervals throughout the tenure of the Chairman.

She called on women in the area to continue to support the administration Governor Udom Emmanuel and the Chairman Hon Frank Archibong in order to provide more democratic dividends, while urging the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the funds to inject life into their businesses to ensure that their families are well taken care of.

Also speaking on the occasion, wife of the Commissioner for health, wife of the Paramount Ruler,Secretary of Council and the immediate past supervisor for environment took turns to admonish the Women to keep the market clean and take good care of their homes.

Responding the President Market Traders Association Mrs Eka Davies and Woman Leader Urua Nka Obongawan Stella Akwaowo thanked the chairman Hon Frank Archibong supporting them in their businesses and promised to make judicious use of the items given. She assured them of their continuous support for Governor Udom Emmanuel and the Chairman, Hon Frank Archibong.

Mrs Martina Nsikan John – Wife of the Vice Chairman, Dr Mrs Esther Kufre Imo Ekpe,Wife of House Leader, Pastor Aniedi Usoro – Secretary of Council, female councilors past and present, chapter woman leader, Ward women leaders and others women groups.
