Youths of Itiam Etoi, Uyo in Akwa Ibom State have expressed appreciation and unalloyed support for the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC under the leadership of the MD/ CEO, Mr Nsima Ekere.

This was made known when the Youth President, Comrade Andikan Enyong led a delegation of indigenous youths on a familiarization visit to the SA Finance to the MD/CEO NDDC, Mr Nseobot Willie in his residence.

Speaking during the meeting, Comrade Eyong appreciated the efforts of the present administration in bringing sustainable projects to the State and Itiam Etoi in particular.

He said.

"On behalf of the youths of Itiam Etoi community, I wish to specially appreciate NDDC for the efforts made so far in bringing projects to touch lives and add value to the State and Itiam Etoi in particular and I want to use this medium to convey our solidarity and support for Obong Nsima Ekere whom we also regard as an indigene of our community."
However, he appealed to the Commission to assist the community by providing them with electrical transformer units to deal with the epileptic power situation they are facing currently considering the negative effect it has on people, especially youths operating businesses in the area.
Also speaking during the occasion, the Emeritus President, Comrade Aniedi Ime Okon assured the SA of their undivided support and readiness to partner with the Commission in executing projects and programmes in the State. According to him.
"We are here today because we have seen what NDDC has done across the state and we want to establish our full support for the commission and also familiarize with you as one of our own."

While reacting to reports that Contractors working at a project site of the commission somewhere in the State were unceremoniously chased from the site by brigands under the supervision of a commissioner in the state, Mr Aniedi declared:

"NDDC should bring all those projects to Itiam Etoi, we can assure you that nobody can come and disturb any NDDC project in this community as far as the youths are concerned."

In his response, Mr Willie promised to convey their good wishes to the MD, and also promised that their request for transformers will be considered. He also expressed optimism that with their cooperation, significant projects will be channelled towards the development of the area.

He charged the youths to support government at all levels and be more conscious of their roles in nation building and development of the region.
